1. PM Modi to lay the foundation stone for construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya today

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Bhumi Poojan function for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya today.
  • He will unveil a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone and also release commemorative postal stamp on Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.
  • The Bhumi Poojan ceremony will start at 12.30 PM and culminate at 12.45 PM. 175 guests including 135 Saints belonging to 135 spiritual traditions have been invited for the ceremony.

 

2. eVIN ensures essential immunization services during COVID pandemic

  • The Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) has ensured essential immunization services during the COVID pandemic.
  • It aims to provide real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures across all cold chain points in the country.
  • eVIN is an innovative technological solution aimed at strengthening immunization supply chain systems across the country. This is being implemented under the National Health Mission by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

3. RBI approves Sashidhar Jagdishan as next CEO of HDFC Bank

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved Sashidhar Jagdishan as the next chief executive officer of HDFC Bank.
  • Jagdishan is currently additional director and head of finance, human resources at the bank. He will take over from Aditya Puri who will step down as the bank’s longest serving CEO ever since he took charge 26 years ago.
  • In November, the bank had constituted a six-member search committee to find a replacement for Puri and had hired Egon Zehnder for assistance. Puri was an advisor to the search committee.

4. US President Donald Trump signs executive order to restrict H1B Visa Use

  • The US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to restrict H1B Visa use.
  • The order will restrict federal agencies from contracting or subcontracting the foreign workers, affecting Indian IT professionals who have been working in the US on H1B Visa.
  • The signed executive order requires all the federal agencies of the US to complete an internal audit and assess if they have been in compliance with the requirement that only nationals and US citizens are appointed to the competitive services.

5. I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar launches DD Assam 24×7 channel

  • Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar launched DD Assam 24×7 channel through video conferencing.
  • Mr. Javadekar said Doordarshan offers 104 channels free of cost for lifetime and people need to just get a set top box and enjoy the channels without paying any subscription fee.
  • CEO of Prasar Bharati Shashi Shekhar Vempati said it is a moment of pride that DD has launched DD Assam. He said all the North Eastern states have state-specific Doordarshan channels which can be viewed anywhere in India.

 

6. DNHDD launches E-Gyan Mitra mobile app for online education

  • Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu has launched E-Gyan Mitra mobile app for online education.
  • The E-Gyan Mitra app launched by the Education Department of Daman Administration is becoming popular among the students and parents.
