1. President Ram Nath Kovind to address the nation on the eve of 72nd Republic Day

  • President Ram Nath Kovind will address the nation today on the eve of the 72nd Republic Day.
  • The address will broadcast from 7PM on the entire national network of All India Radio and telecast over all channels of Doordarshan in Hindi, followed by English version.
  • Broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan.
  • All India Radio will broadcast regional language versions from 9.30 PM onwards on its respective regional networks.

2. PM Modi likely to address World Economic Forum on Jan 28

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the virtual session of World Economic Forum on Jan 28.
  • The World Economic Forum 2021 is scheduled to be held through video conference from Jan 26-29 at Davos in Switzerland.
  • The theme of the forum this year is “The Great Reset” and it represents a commitment to jointly and urgently build the foundations of the global economic and social system to ensure a more equitable, fair, sustainable and resilient future.
  • It will aim to connect key global governmental and business leaders through a global multi-stakeholder network in 400 cities around the world to pave way for a forward-oriented dialogue.

3. Govt extends Ayushman Bharat health scheme to Central Armed Police Forces

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the Ayushman CAPF health scheme in Guwahati for about 28 lakh Central Armed Police Forces and their families in all the states where Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is operational.
  • Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MoS Home Nityananda Rai, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla were also present on this occasion.
  • PM-JAY provides health coverage for 10 crores households or 50 crores Indians.

4. Indian Govt launches ShramShakti portal to collect data related to tribal migrant workers

  • The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the ‘ShramShakti’ portal to collect data related to the tribal migrant workers and will also link them to the existing welfare schemes.
  • The Tribal Affairs Minister, Arjun Munda while virtually launching the digital portal ‘ShramShakti’ stated that the lack of real-time data on the migrants has been the biggest challenge faced by Centre and State Governments.
  • The data collected through the ‘ShramShakti’ portal will include the livelihood options demographic profile, migration pattern and skill mapping.
  • The Minister also launched ‘ShramSaathi’, a tribal training module.

 

5. National Voters’ Day being observed across the country today

  • The National Voters’ Day will be celebrated across the country today to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters.
  • It also focuses on the commission’s commitment towards conducting elections safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest at the national function being organized in New Delhi.
  • The theme for this year is ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’.
  • During the event, the President will confer the National Awards for the year 2020-21 and launch ECI’s Web Radio: ‘Hello Voters’.
