1. RBI to inject additional Rs 30,000 cr to maintain financial stability in wake of COVID-19 outbreak
The Reserve Bank of India decided to infuse additional liquidity with a second tranche of bond purchase worth 30,000 crores amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
The Apex Bank has decided to ensure that all markets segments function normally with adequate liquidity and turnover. As part of this endeavour, the central bank will purchase government securities under open market operations (OMOs) for an aggregate amount of Rs 30,000 crore in two tranches of Rs 15,000 crore each in March.
The auctions would be conducted on March 24 and March 30. RBI governor Shaktikanta Das had recently said that the regulator has enough policy tools and stands ready to take any measures” needed to help the economy tide over the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

2. NK Singh Committee formed for fiscal consolidation road map
The Finance Commission has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of NK Singh in order to create a road map for fiscal consolidation for the Centre and the States. The Finance Commission submitted its first report to the Government of India in February 2020.
The Finance Commission will submit its final report by October 30, covering the years 2021-22 to 2025-26. NK Singh Committee will recommend the definition of deficit and debt.

3. World Sparrow Day: 20th March
World Sparrow Day is observed every year on 20th March. The day aims to raise awareness about the Sparrow.
The need for marking this day was felt due to the tremendous decrease in their population. The house sparrow is on the verge of extinction.
The first World Sparrow Day was celebrated in 2010 in different parts of the world. Increased use of pesticides, change in the pattern of buildings and gardens missing from the houses have become the main factors why the number of sparrows has declined sharply in the past few years
3. Rajasthan to be under complete lock-down from 22nd to 31st March, barring essential services amid COVID-19 outbreak
Rajasthan government announced a ‘complete lockdown’ in the state from 22nd March to 31st March 2020, barring essential services.
The decision was taken by the state government after Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot chaired a high level meeting to review the current situation in the state amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
Barring essential services and daily necessities, Rajasthan Government’s ‘Complete Lockdown’ will remain applicable to all government offices, malls, factories, public transport etc.

4. Himachal Pradesh govt launches Police Station Visitor Survey System and e-Night Beat Checking System
Himachal Pradesh State government launched Police Station Visitor Survey System and e-Night Beat Checking System for state police in Shimla. These systems would help the Police Department in doing self-evaluation and improve the working of Police.
This system would be used for the surveillance of visitors visiting the Police Stations, Police Posts and all other police units and would help in creating a database of visitors.
CM Jai Ram Thakur also launched the Night Beat Checking system for the Police Department would help the State Police to keep a track of the suspected vehicles and criminals who move in the night.
