1. Government approves Rs. 6,000 crores infusion in NIIF platform

  • The Union Cabinet has approved an equity infusion by the government of Rs. 6,000 crores in NIIF- National Investment and Infrastructure Fund over the course of two years.
  • Under NIIF, two firms, NIIF Infrastructure Finance Limited (NIIF-FL) and Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited- AIFL will be responsible for mobilizing the funds.
  • AIFL is AA rated company while NIIF-FL is AAA-rated.
  • The proposal to invest Rs 6,000 crore as equity into NIIF is part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 package announced earlier this month.

2. Indian Railway launches digitised online HR Management System

  • Indian Railway has launched a completely digitised online Human Resource Management System (HRMS) to leverage improved productivity and employee satisfaction.
  • It is a move to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Railway system.
  • Railway Board Chairman and CEO Vinod Kumar Yadav launched the HRMS modules of Employee Self Service, PF Advance and Retirement Settlement through video conferencing.
  • The modules will benefit over 27 lakh families of both serving and retired Railway employees.

3. Nitin Gadkari inaugurates & lays foundation stones of 16 National Highway projects in UP

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 16 National Highway projects worth 7477 crore rupees in Uttar Pradesh yesterday.
  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the virtual function.
  • These road projects worth 505 kilometers will enhance better connectivity, convenience, and economic growth in the state.
  • Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gadkari said that National Highways works worth two lakh crore rupees are being undertaken in UP.

4. India extends ban on commercial international flights till Dec 31

  • The Director General of Civil Aviation has extended the ban on international flights till 31st Dec in view of the coronavirus.
  • However, it said that international scheduled flights may be allowed on certain routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis.
  • The DGCA ban on the scheduled international flights was to end on the 30th of this month.
  • India has established air bubble agreements with about 18 countries, including US, UK, France, UAE, Qatar and the Maldives, Kenya, and Bhutan. This pact allows the operation of special flights between the countries.

5. India, Finland sign MoU for environment protection and biodiversity conservation

  • India and Finland signed an MoU for developing and strengthening cooperation between the two nations in the field of environment protection and biodiversity conservation.
  • The MoU has been signed virtually by the Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar, and his counterpart from Finland Krista Mikkonen.
  • It will further advance the bilateral partnership and support as well as exchange best practices in the areas such as waste management, prevention of water and air pollution, low carbon solutions, promotion of circular economy, and sustainable management of natural resources.
